Comprehensive Certification Program Designed to Protect Students and Staff

Our School Guardian Training program is specifically designed to prepare school staff to effectively protect students and campus personnel in emergency situations. This rigorous course, certified by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), provides comprehensive training in defensive tactics, firearm proficiency, and crisis management, tailored to the unique needs of educational environments.

Course Length: Our School Guardian Training program typically spans 3.5 to 4 days, offering an immersive and intensive learning experience.

Location: We prefer to conduct the classroom and scenario-based training at your location or campus to provide a realistic and relevant context for participants. However, we also have our own facilities available. Live fire exercises will be performed at our ranges or with our affiliates in the area.

Course Overview:

The School Safety (SS) certification course was developed by the Department of Public Safety to decrease liability on school campuses and enhance the overall safety of students and staff. Our Lead Instructor, Ray Barron, is one of the original 12 authorized instructors in Texas, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program.

Core Topics Covered:

1. Protection of Students and Campus: Learn strategies and techniques to safeguard students and staff during an active threat or emergency situation.

2. Interaction with Law Enforcement: Understand how to effectively interact with law enforcement officers during an incident, ensuring smooth coordination and communication.

3. Tactics for Denying Intruder Entry (Avoid/Deny/Defend): Master the national standard tactics for preventing intruder access to classrooms and school facilities, focusing on avoidance, denial, and defense.

4. Handgun Accuracy Under Duress: Develop skills to maintain accuracy and effectiveness with a handgun under high-stress conditions, improving overall response capabilities.

5. Physiological Responses to Duress: Gain insight into the physiological changes that occur in the body under stress and learn techniques to manage and mitigate these effects.

6. Scenario-Based Training: Engage in realistic, scenario-based training exercises using state-of-the-art tactics and equipment to simulate real-life situations and enhance preparedness.

7. Comprehensive Safety Strategies: Explore a variety of additional topics and strategies aimed at reducing campus liability and ensuring a safe educational environment.

Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Texas DPS Proof of Training Form. All completed courses will be filed with the Texas Department of Public Safety as part of the participants' License to Carry, in accordance with Texas Government Code 411.1901.
